What's on this page?

Something to be thankful for

Three day weekend

Something to be thankful for 2/8/06

New archive page! I've moved all the January homepage entries to an archive page- the link for it is below.

The something to be thankful for? I tried a recipe out before posting it. It was not good. At all. So last week's potential update didn't happen and so all should be thankful for being spared the horrible stomachache that recipe would have caused.

AC followed up with a request for a link so people knew who Ding Dong is. Here it is!

Today is a short update. I'll be doing more soon!

Three Day Weekend! 2/20/06

I didn't spend nearly as much time on this as I had planned on this three day weekend (Happy Birthday, Washington!), which is probably both good and bad.

The friends page is making a change over to a links page. I'd like a nicer name for it, but I realized that there was a wider assortment of webpages I wanted to include, so the more restrictive name is being replaced.

New translation!

New bookclub list! The bookclub that I have been meeting with has been meeting since 2002. The members have changed a bit, but we are still going strong. This is the list of books we've read and will be reading.

CJ wrote and recommended translating a cookbook I had brought in when teaching German. Unfortunately (for me) that cookbook I had was from the 50's, but it is currently in its 50th edition. That sounds like some big language rights payments to me- but it would be a lot of fun to do it for something out of print and older!

MK wants to know if I'll be adding pictures. Good thing you ask- The reason that I didn't spend as much time on this website was that I spent all last night scanning photos. I've only had a digital camera since December, so I have a bunch of paper copies of photos that I've decided to scan for archiving. If, by the time you read this it isn't already there, you'll see a link on the left to pictures.

Getting the picture of the one doily up was work enough that Tim recommended I put up more interesting pictures than doilies in the future. I may have found the answer that lets me post doilies and other pictures much more easily.

Speaking of photos, TA wrote:
"... your audience ... respectfully requests photo of crocheted skirt."
OK, that skirt is an abandoned project until I figure how to fix it, but I can take a picture of it at the point it is now so you can see what a wonder I was making until the measurements went off. I'm sure I'll come back to it again. In the meantime, I've got some slippers and embroidery in the works.

You'll see some changes in the website phase in over the next couple of days. Hope you enjoy it.
